January Meeting and Book Selection

Melanie, Kristen, and I met last night at the Bistro for Book Club. We had a lively conversation! Although, we didn't talk about the book much. It was still nice to get to catch up.

We decided that our next meeting will be on Tuesday, January 13th at Kristen's apartment. She lives in Chattanooga, right off of Gunbarrel Road. We will plan on getting started at 6 that night.

The book we chose is The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho. I found it on Amazon for $11.16. Books-A-Million.com has it for $12.09/$10.88 for members. It could probably be found at McKay's in Chattanooga, too.

Next Book Club Meeting!

Hey everyone! Sorry it has been so long since our last update! Everyone's schedules have gotten really crazy. We are meeting on Tuesday, December 2nd at 7:00. We will be discussing Long Way Down.

Please let me know where you want to meet:

Bald Headed Bistro
My house
Other?

I have been a slacker and still haven't started it yet! I am hoping that I can dedicate some time to the book during the Thanksgiving Break. :)

Updated Meeting Info!

It looks like Book Club is finally coming together! Let's get together this Thursday evening, Oct 16th at 7:00 at my house. I will have light snacks and Andrea is bringing some white wine! Yum!

We will discuss the book and then talk about what we want from our book club. We will also go ahead and choose the date for our next meeting (as well as our next book). Afterwards, if anyone wants to stay later and watch The Office or other Thursday night shows, you are welcome to stay!

Please bring some ideas of books you want to read. Either books you would recommend to us that you enjoyed reading or a book that you want to read that you haven't had a chance to yet.

I look forward to seeing all of you!

And, if you haven't had a chance to read the book, that is ok. We still want you to be there!

Our First Meeting!

Our first meeting is scheduled for tomorrow, October 7th. A couple of people won't be in town tomorrow. What is the consensus of moving our first meeting so more people will be there?

Also, we haven't decided on time and location. Any ideas/suggestions?

Please respond today! I am sorry about this being such late notice!

What are you reading right now?

I have to admit, I usually am in the middle of about 4 books at a time. I don't know how I do it but it happens. Usually, I start out reading a book and it will be good. Then somehow I end up with a stack of books on my nightstand.

The one I am most ashamed of is one of the books in the Outlander series. I so love those books. But I got stuck in the middle of the second book for about a year. Then I picked it back up and finished it. I flew through it and book #3. Now I have been stuck on book #4 for about 2 years. Maybe it is time for me to pick it back up.

Anyway, here are the books that I a reading right now:

The Key to Rebecca by Ken Follet
New Moon by Stephanie Meyer
Captains and Kings by Taylor Caldwell

Please post the books you are reading on our Book Club website in the "Comments" section!

This is a test!

No, not really a test. I was just trying to get everyone's attention! Hi! Welcome!

To get an idea about what our Book Club members like to read, answer this question:

If you could only have 3 books in your personal library for the rest of your life, what three books would you want to read over and over again? Do you even like to read books more than once?

Let us know!

For me, this is still a hard question.... One of my favorite books that I would like to read again is Rebecca by Daphne du Maurier. My second choice would be......hmmm..... The Runaway Jury by John Grishom. Third choice would be any book by Jude Deveraux. Gotta have a little of everything!

We are Organized!

Friends!

Welcome to our Book Club. We will have our meetings on the first Tuesdays of each month. Our first meeting will be on Tuesday, October 7th. We will keep you posted on the location. Please plan to join us to discuss the book, our club name, and the basic guidelines for our Book Club!

Our first book is Cranberry Queen by Kathleen DeMarco. I found it on Amazon for $11.01. Books-A-Million.com has it for $10.61 if you are a "club member."

At this time, Book Club meetings are invitation only. But anyone can keep up with our readings via this website. We can discuss opening the Book Club to others at our first meeting. Also, any out-of-town friends are welcome to join us in our readings.

I look forward to reading our first book and our first discussions!
