Shelter Me on Saturday

I am hoping we won't be trying to find shelter from the rain on Saturday! The news today said 30% chance, so hopefully we will miss it!

Also, we are pushing the meeting time back to 4:30. I hope to see you all then!

Date Change

After several e-mails and looking over the calendar, it appears that we need to change the date of our next Book Club Meeting. From the responses I had via e-mail, August 1st looks like the best date for us to all meet. If that doesn't work with your schedule, let me know!

We will still plan on Hot Dogs and Coolidge Park fun!

Also, I found the book (Shelter Me) at Books-a-Million in Cleveland yesterday. It was $14.99 and there were two more copies in stock. It wasn't there when I checked earlier this month.

I hope everyone has a great week! And a wonderful 4th of July!

Our Awesome Book Club!

Once again, we had a great meeting last night! Lots of fun and girl time! I always enjoy seeing everyone and spending time together! So much fun! Everyone who read the book seemed to enjoy it. We had some good discussion about the characters and story line. Personally, I would recommend Love Walked In to anyone interested in reading it.

Our next meeting will be on Saturday, July 11 at noon at Good Dog on the North Shore in Chattanooga. Check them out at www.eatatgooddog.com . And save room for one of their yummy cupcakes for dessert! Husbands, dads, children, and puppies are welcome! They can go play frisbee and get wet in the Coolidge Fountain while we talk about our book. I think this will be fun!

The book for July is Shelter Me by Juliette Fay. It is $11.69 on Amazon.com. $11.99 on Booksamillion.com. The book came out in the fall of 2008 so I am not sure if it would be at McKays yet or not. Amazon readers have given the book 5 stars, based on 64 votes. Sounds like it is going to be a good one!

We missed Andrea at our meeting last night. Hopefully her schedule will work out so we can all be at the July meeting! And get a group photo with EVERYONE there!

Have a great month and I look forward to seeing you all next time!

Love Walked In

We had a great meeting at Oliver's this month! Welcome Amber! And it was good to see Andrea, too! Melanie was brave to come out just four days after her knee surgery! What a good turn out we had!

After some great chitchatting, appitizers, and desserts, we finally settled on a book. Michelle chose Love Walked In by Marisa De Los Santos. Once again, I just love the cover of this book! We saw it for sale at Target for a little over $12. But, I just now went to Amazon and saw it for $4.99! If anyone wants to order it, I am signed up for Prime and get free shipping on this item! So just $5! Not too shabby! Let me know if you want me to order it for you!

Our next meeting is scheduled for June 8th at 7:00 at my house. I'll have a light dinner for us, if you want to bring a bottle of wine to go with it, you can! I don't want to give full directions on the website, but it is off of Mouse Creek Road, close to Paul Huff Parkway.

I look forward to seeing everyone then! I always have so much fun with you girls!

April Meeting

Our April Book Club meeting will be at Oliver's on Tuesday, April 21st. We will be discussing Adam by Ted Dekker. I am looking forward to hanging out with everyone and hearing your thoughts on the book. I have not read it yet, so I guess I better put the Sookie books down and get started!!

I saw the book on Amazon for $11. Paperback at Books-A-Million is $10.86.

Have a great week and I will see you on Tuesday!

March 21st Meeting

Our next book selection is Twilight by Stephanie Meyer. We decided to stay with the vampire theme and coordinate the reading of this book with the release of the Twilight Movie. We will meet at Melanie Lyon's house on the release day to watch the movie, all of the extras, and plot and plan for how we think the director will depict the next Stephanie Meyer novel.

Our meeting at Janna's house last month was great! Janna had a wonderful homemade soup for us and delicious strawberry short cake. We had a good discussion about Dead until Dark. Several people actually read the entire series during the month. There were lots of good things said about the book! As a whole, we all enjoyed it.

Here is some info about our next meeting:

February Meeting!

We had a lively Book Club meeting last night at Kristin's house. She cooked a wonderful dinner that was delectable! I had a really nice time! I don't think there is a better way to spend a Tuesday night.

Our February meeting will be on Tuesday, February 24th at 6:00 at Janna's house. We will be reading Dead Until Dark by Charlaine Harris. This is the book that the HBO vampire series True Blood is based. I found it on Amazon.com for $7.99. Amazon also sells the Sookie Stackhouse Box Set of 7 books in the series for $31.88.

Also, Melanie mentioned that she wants to have a Twlight DVD Release Party. So put Saturday, March 21st on your calendar. More vampire fun!

One more exciting announcement, Stacey told me that Janet Peery, author of The River Beyond the World and What the Thunder Said will be reading from her writing on January 22nd at 8 PM at the Dixon Center on the Lee campus. Let me know if anyone is interested in attending.

Next week

Hey everyone! I'm really excited about everyone coming over next Tuesday. I was planning on doing lobster ravioli with shrimp, salad, and dessert. Does anyone NOT eat seafood? If so, I can totally make something else! Hope everyone has enjoyed the book! See you next Tuesday.
